Scenic Getaway Motorhome Hire Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2009 and 02-Jan-2011
Payment
An initial non refundable deposit will be secured at the time of your booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and Mastercard. In addition a non refundable secondary supplier deposit of £250 will be secured at the time of reservation confirmation directly by the Supplier. Please ensure that you have funds available on your nominated credit card at this time. The remaining balance due including a refundable £1000 damage deposit is payable 6 weeks (42 days) prior to the start of the hire period. Please ensure that you have funds available on your nominated credit card at this time.
If there are no deductions required from your deposit, it will be returned to you in full one week after the end of the hire period.
Cancellations
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposit, the following charges also apply:
All cancellations must be notified in writing to Scenic Getaway, but please call Scenic Getaway immediately to inform them as this will improve the chances of rehiring the motorhome. If notification of your cancellation is received more than 45 days before the start date of your hire you will be refunded in full less the initial supplier deposit payment of £250.
If notification of your cancellation is received less than 45 days before the start date of your hire all monies paid and due are not refundable and you are still liable for any sums not yet paid. However, Scenic Getaway will do all it can to rehire the motorhome and if they are able to do so, you will be refunded up to a maximum of your total hire less the initial supplier deposit payment of £250, subject to the amount Scenic Getaway is able to rehire the motorhome for.

Monday - Saturday: 09:30 - 17:00pm
Sunday: Closed (Open By Appointment Only- Opening Fee of £75)

Closed: Bank Holidays & Christmas (Christmas closure dates provided near the time)
Pick Up
Unless otherwise agreed with the operator, the motorhome will be available on the the 1st rental day starts at between 3.00pm - 5.00pm - but arrangements for earlier collection may be possible if the vehicle is available.
Drop Off
The return rental day would be between 9.30am - 10.30am (We have an insurance cut of point of 11:00am - after this time clients will be charged).
Late Return
Late returns can have a significant impact on the next hire. If you fail to return the your motorhome on time you may be liable to an extra charge at the discretion of the operator, but typically £75.00 an hour plus any additional costs incurred by the operator or Scenic Getaway as a result. There are no refunds for motorhomes returned early.

The Supplier is happy to arrange delivery and collection of your vehicle to the below locations at a fee. Please contact the Supplier on the details provided above to arrange specific delivery points

The Supplier can only deliver after 8.00am during the mid-week or at weekends.

Availability
Occasionally motorhomes are not available as agreed, which is almost always due to events beyond the motorhome operator's control (see below). If your booking has to be cancelled (which the motorhome operator has the right to do) Scenic Getaway, on behalf of the motorhome operator, will offer you the choice of an alternative motorhome or, if no suitable replacement is available, provide a full refund of all monies you have paid for your booking.
Events Beyond the Operators Control
Unfortunately, events beyond the motorhome operator's control occasionally affect bookings. When reference is made to such events in these Conditions of Hire, this means any event(s) or circumstance(s), which the motorhome operator could not, even with all due, care, foresee or avoid.
Neither Scenic Getaway nor the motorhome operator can accept responsibility or pay any compensation, costs or expenses where the performance of your contract with the motorhome operator is prevented or affected or you otherwise suffer any loss or damage as a result of events beyond the motorhome operator's control.
This includes any delays to and/or restrictions to your hire to which you may be subject. However, if your booking has to be cancelled as a result, Scenic Getaway, on behalf of the motorhome operator, will of course offer you the choice of an alternative motorhome (if available) or refund as described above.
Suitable Persons
The motorhome operator and scenic getaway have the right to refuse to hand over a motorhome to any person who, in the reasonable opinion of the motorhome operator or Scenic Getaway, as applicable, is not suitable to take charge. In such cases, all hire charges paid will be refunded in full but neither the motorhome operator nor Scenic Getaway have any further liability.
Pets
The acceptance of pets in the motorhome will be by agreement with the motorhome operator Scenic Getaway. Scenic Getaway do welcome pets, so please check before booking what pet motorhomes are available and an additional charge of £60.00 will be charged per hire.
Smoking
Any type of Smoking in the motorhome is strictly prohibited and any client found in breach of the Terms and Conditions will incur a Charge of £500.00.
Linen Hire
Bed linen, pillows and towels are not provided with the motorhome as standard. If you specifically require these items or are travelling from aboard please enquire about availability.
Rental Period
You will have the vehicle for the rental period shown in the agreement. If you do not bring the vehicle back on time you are breaking the conditions of this agreement.
You can be charged for every day or part day you have the vehicle after you should have returned it. Until the vehicle is returned you will be charged the daily rate of your hire plus 50%.
Minimum Hire
Hire is for a minimum of 5 days (1st June - 9th September & December Minimum of 7 days Hire)
Hirers Responsibilities
a. You must look after the vehicle and the keys to the vehicle. You must always lock the vehicle when you are not using it, and use any security device fitted to or supplied with the vehicle. You must always protect the vehicle against bad weather, which can cause damage. You must make sure that you use the correct fuel.
You are responsible for any damage to the vehicle caused by hitting low level objects, such as bridges or low branches.
b. You must not sell, rent or dispose of the vehicle or any of its parts. You must not give anyone any legal rights over the vehicle.
c. You must not let anyone work on the vehicle without the Operator's permission. If the operator does give you permission, you will only receive a refund if you have a receipt for the work.
d. You must let Scenic Getaway know as soon as you become aware of a fault in the vehicle.
e. You must bring the vehicle back to the place agreed, at the time agreed and remain responsible for the vehicle until this time. The operator must see the vehicle to check that it is in good condition.
f. You will have to pay for repairs if:
- The vehicle needs more than our standard valeting (cleaning): - (Standard Valet - £150.00 - Non Standard Valet £200.00).
- You have damaged the vehicle, inside or out.
g. Before you bring back the vehicle you must check that you have not left any personal belongings in the vehicle.
h. . Before you bring back the vehicle it is your responsibility to check that the Fridge Freezer and cooker are as clean as when you collected the vehicle - A charge will be applied if upon return of the vehicle the Fridge/freezer or Cooker is deemed unclean - (Cleaning Charge for Fridge/Freezer or Cooker £40.00 per item).
Additional Charge
- Valet for vehicles returned not cleaned as required in Terms and Conditions £150.00 per Hire
- Valet for vehicles returned with Cooker or Fridge / Freezers not cleaned as in Terms & Conditions £ 35.00 per item
- Vehicles returned later than 11:00am on Return Date £70.00 per hour
- Vehicles returned with Waste Tanks or Toilet not emptied as Terms and Conditions £75.00 per Tank
Conditions for Use Of Vehicle
The vehicle must only be driven by you and any other driver named on the hire insurance policy, or by anyone else we authorise in writing. Anyone driving the vehicle must have a full valid driving licence.
You or any other authorised driver must not:
- Use the vehicle for hire or reward;
- Use the vehicle for any illegal purpose;
- Use the vehicle for racing, pacemaking, testing the vehicle's reliability and speed or teaching someone to drive;
- Use the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
- Drive the vehicle outside England, Scotland and Wales, unless we have given you written permission;
- Overload the vehicle;
- If the vehicle is a commercial vehicle, use it for a purpose for which you need an operator's licence if you do not have one.
Charges
Charges are based on scenic getaway price list at the time of booking. You will be charged for:
a. The rental and any other charges we work out according to this agreement.
b. A charge for any loss or damage to the motorhome (even if it is accidental or not your fault) subject to the cover provided by the hire insurance.
c. Any charge for loss or damage resulting from you not keeping to condition in "Hirers Responsibilities".
d. You must empty the toilet cassette at the end of the hire period. There is a £75 charge for un-emptied cassettes and a £75 charge per Grey water Tank.
e. A refuelling service charge if you have used, and not replaced, more fuel than was supplied originally. The charge is based on the cost of the fuel plus £25.
f. Gas is included, but should you need to replace an empty bottle during the course of your hire, this is your responsibility.
g. All fines and costs (including court costs) for parking, traffic or other offences, congestion charges, (including any costs which arise if the vehicle is clamped). You must pay the appropriate authority any fines and costs if and when the authority demands this payment. If you do not, you will be responsible to pay any costs and reasonable administration charges which arise when scenic Getaway or the Operator deal with these matters.(Admin Charge £25.00 per fine/penalty )
h. Any charges arising from Customs and Excise or Immigration Authorities seizing the vehicle, together with a loss-of-income charge while the Operator cannot rent out the vehicle, if and when Scenic Getaway demand this payment.
i. Any published or agreed rates for delivering and collecting the vehicle.
j. Interest which will be added every day to any amount you do not pay on time, at the rate of 4% a year above the base lending rate of Barclays Bank from time to time.
k. Value added tax and all other taxes on any of the charges listed above, as appropriate.
You are responsible for all charges, even it you have asked someone else to be responsible for them.
Insurance
The motorhome is insured for the period of the hire and a copy of the insurance policy is available from Scenic Getaway head office on request. By signing the attached form you are accepting the conditions of the hire insurance policy.
Additional Insurance & Cover
- Motorhome Ireland cover (includes insurance and AA cover) £75.00 per week
- Motorhome European cover (includes insurance and AA cover) £100.00 per week
Breakdown
No responsibility can be accepted by scenic getaway for any loss or damage or expense which occurs as a result of any defect or breakdown unless it is due to a proven reason of the operator's failure to adequately maintain the motorhome in a fit state and condition.
If you do breakdown you should:
- Contact the breakdown service that covers the vehicle.
- Inform your operator immediately.
Accident
No responsibility can be accepted by Scenic Getaway for any loss or damage or expense, which occurs as a result of any accident. If you have an accident you must not admit responsibility. You should get the names and addresses of everyone involved, including witnesses. You should also:
- Make the vehicle secure.
- Tell the police straight away if anyone is injured or there is a disagreement over who is responsible; and
- Contact your operator immediately.
You must produce an accident report sending one copy to Scenic Getaway head office.
Roof, Windscreens and Tyres
You are responsible for any Roof or Overhead damage as well as any Damage to windscreens and windows, punctures or other damage to tyres during the period of the hire. Where possible it should be repaired or replaced as appropriate and paid for by you at the time. You should contact the operator to seek instructions before carrying out the repair.
Any damage to tyres, windscreen, roof/overhead and any theft of personal property is not covered by our insurance, and any such damage shall be at your expense . Scenic Getaway recommend that the hirer takes out their own personal belongings insurance
-In the event of overhead damage,the Insurance excess is £2000+VAT per incident.
-Insurance does not cover the replacement of damaged tyres and windows due to mis-use or neglegence,and applies to each claim - not rental.
Information
If you break the agreement we can give the information you have provided to credit reference agencies, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), debt collectors and any other relevant organisation. We can also give this information to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), who can pass it on to any of its members for any purpose stated in the Data Protection Act 1998.
Ending the Agreement
a. If you are a consumer we will end this agreement straight away if we find out that your belongings have been taken away from you to pay off your debts, or a receiving order has been made against you. We will also end this agreement if you do not meet any of the conditions of this agreement.
b. If you are a company, we will end this agreement straight away if:
- You go into liquidation;
- You call a meeting of creditors;
- We find out that your goods have been taken away from you until you pay off your debts;
- You do not meet any of the conditions of this agreement
c. If we end the agreement if will not affect our right to receive any money we are owed under the conditions of this agreement. We can also claim extra costs from you if you do not meet any of the conditions of this agreement. We can repossess the vehicle and charge you if we do this.
Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the country in which it is signed. Any dispute may be settled in the courts of that country.
Motorhome Hire FAQ's
1). Where are the pick and drop off points
We are based in Romford East London, Just Off the M25,with the A12. A13, A127, A406 & M11 within easy reach - Please Call Us for our Norwich and Edinburgh Motorhome Hire Locations.
2). Is there parking for our car?
Yes, there is secure parking for customer vehicles. (only 1 car per hire, Your vehicle can be stored on our premises but is left at owners risk)
3). How many miles to the gallon do the motorhome do and which type of fuel?
The motorhomes do around 25-28 miles to the gallon and are diesel, they come with a full tank of diesel and are to be returned full. (if not returned full there will be a charge of £25.00 as well as the cost of the diesel retained from the deposit)
4). What is the insurance deposit for and is it refundable?
The motorhomes have comprehensive insurance, but if there is any damage or an accident the first £1000.00 is payable by the customer, if the motorhome is returned undamaged, clean and the toilet emptied then the insurance deposit is refundable.
5). Are the Motorhomes New?
Yes the Scenic Hawk are New for late 2007/2008, Scenic Eagle was purchased in Late July 07 and the Scenic Falcon, Scenic Owl and the Scenic Harrier were purchased in Mid March 07, the Scenic Kestral was new November 06 and the Scenic Osprey was new January 2006.
6). I am 24 can I drive the motorhomes?
Yes you can at an additional cost and the only restriction we have is that we cannot insure anyone under the age of 21 years or over 75 years . If you have taken and passed the additional test then you might be able to hire one of our larger motorhomes, your details will be required by our insurers.
7). Do you have any Automatic motorhomes?
No sorry all our motorhomes are manual. (Looking into finding an automatic motorhome for our fleet)
8). How do we find you?
4 weeks before your holiday I will be in touch about the remaining balance due, I will also attach a map and directions on how to find us
9). Are pets allowed?
Yes - We do have several Motorhomes available for Pet Owners, and a set Valeting charge of £60:00 per hire.
10). What length is the motorhome?
The Scenic Owl & Scenic Kestral & Hawk is 6.34m, the Scenic Falcon & Scenic Harrier is 7.07m, and the Scenic Osprey & Eagle are 7.34m
11). Are all the motorhomes right hand drive?
Yes.
12).Are the hire periods for a minimum seven days?
Yes and No. Yes in high season 7 days or longer, low or mid season the motorhomes can be booked from 5 days.
14). Do all your Motorhomes have 3 point seatbelts fiited in the rear.
All our Motorhomes have two 3 point seatbelts and 2 lap belts fitted in the rear habitation area.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Security Deposit
A deposit of £1,000 is required which should be paid at the same time as the balance of your hire money, to be held against any loss, damage to the motorhome (externally or internally) costs or insurance claims as described in these terms and conditions. If there are no deductions required from your Security Deposit, it will be returned to you in full one week after the end of the hire period.

Dereham is a serviced non depot location. Please note: The supplier does not have a physical office in the Dereham location. This is a serviced non-depot location. The supplier will contact you with specific details of pick up directions and address shortly after confirmation of your booking. This Depot is just 30 minutes from Norwich.

COLLECTION AND DELIVERY TIMES
Unless otherwise agreed with the operator, the motorhome will be available on the day of collection from the agreed location at 4.00 pm and must be delivered back to the agreed location by 10.30 am on the last day of hire.
Late returns can have a significant impact on the next hire. If you fail to return the your motorhome on time you may be liable to an extra charge at the discretion of the operator, but typically £50.00 an hour plus any additional costs incurred by the operator or Scenic Getaway as a result. There are no refunds for motorhomes returned early.
